SAT SEPT 24TH COLIN KINGWELL'S JAZZ BANDITS
Colin has led his Jazz Bandits since 1956. Prior to that he played with Mick Mulligan, Steve Lane then formed the Brent Valley Stompers with Pat Halcox. In their early years the Bandits were considered a band playing in the classic jazz style and nowadays probably more in the revivalist New Orleans style of the 40's & 50's. Dougie Kennedy( banjo /guitar) has been with Colin since 1973 and Malc Murphy( Drums) since1991.

SAT OCT 29th DAVE SMITH's NGJ Band
The Georgia Jazzmen and The Georgia Jazzband were forerunners of the New Georgia Jazz Band - NGJB. The metamorphosis is in name only and the musical style has always been based on the Ken Colyer influence. Dave Smith has led both the ancient and modern concepts of " Georgia Jazz"
Personnel: Dave Smith - cornet. Dave Wood - reeds, David Johnson - Bass, Ian Dalziel - banjo, Allen Jones - drums , Stan Stephens - trombone.

SAT NOV 26TH HENRYS HOT 6
Henry Davies is a Bristolian and professional multi instrumentalist and arranger who has always earned his living by music. He was for a time one of Adge Cutlers Wurzels also a member of the New Vaudeville Band and Pigsty hill Light Orchestra. However Henry is an authority on all types of Jazz and this is reflected in Henrys Hot 6 who the Malmesbury Jazz Society are pleased to present.

SAT JAN 28TH STEVE GRAHAM'S JAZZ BAND
Steve was born & brought up in Grimsby where he was first introduced to jazz at the South Bank Jazz Club in the mid 60's and inspired to play the trumpet. After moving to the Midlands to work, Steve sold his trumpet and commenced a serious study of classical guitar (and later Lute).In 1977 he was enticed to move to Taunton to work as a teacher of these instruments, and there met musicians who were interested in New Orleans Jazz and he was encouraged to return to the trumpet. In recent years he has led bands with some of the country's finest musicians. His styles range from refined & sensitive to "hot & dirty"

SAT FEB 25TH NORMAN THATCHERS JAZZ BAND
Norman is a multi instrumentalist ( trumpet,trombone,tenor sax,double bass,banjo and drums ) who's influences have mainly been 40's New Orleans . Having led the Colyer Trust Band for ten years Norman has become one of the highly rated players on the British Jazz scene today.

SAT MARCH 31st RON RUMBOLDS EXCELSIOR VINTAGE JAZZ BAND
Formed in 1998 and influenced by the New Orleans rivalist styles of the 1940's -1960's The Excelsior Vintage are no strangers to Malmesbury having played many times for the MJS. The band comprises musicians such as leader Ron Rumbol,Dave Evans,John Wiseman,Ray Goold & Etons proudist Doug Kennedy, all of whom have played with the very best. On this occasion they bring guest Cuff Billet who who played with the Vieux Carre Band in Portsmouth before joining The Kid Martyn Ragtime Band in 1961. He has since played much in Europe & the United States with his own Band and Butch Thompsons King Oliver Centenial Band.

SAT April 28TH THE CELEBRATION JAZZ BAND
Tim Newman formed The Celebration Jazz Band in 1983 and since that date they have kept a steady diary of bookings. They play in the west country mainly for Jazz clubs,corporate & private parties,Weddings etc. They have made several tours for the association of cultural activities to Spain. Their music is 40's New Orleans influenced.
